Upgrade Guide for NSv Series
Welcome to the SonicOS 8.x Upgrade Guide for NSv Series. This guide is applicable for the following SonicWall Virtual Firewall Models.
- NSv Series: NSv XS, NSv S, NSv M and NSv L
This Upgrade Guide provides information about upgrading your NSv Series firewall from previous versions of SonicOS 6.5 or SonicOS 7.x to the latest version of SonicOS 8.x.
The initial deployment of SonicOS 8.x must be a fresh install. Upgrading to SonicOS 8.x fromSonicOS 7.x or SonicOS 6.5.5.v via the SWI file is not supported.
Upgrading SonicOS from a SonicOS 6 (versions 6.5 or older) or SonicOS 7.x firewall to a SonicOS 8.x firewall using the online migration tool is not supported.
To move SonicOS from a SonicOS 6 (versions 6.5 or older) or SonicOS 7.x firewall to a SonicOS 8.x firewall, you must export the configuration settings file and import it to migrate your settings to SonicOS 8.x.
