Format Storage option in Advanced Options in Safe Mode - Gen6 Appliances.

Description:

The Format Storage option, available in Advanced Options when a Gen6 appliance is in Safe Mode, is to recover an appliance from storage corruption. Format Storage must only be performed on advice from Support.

• Storage corruption can occur due to various reasons but primarily due to incorrect power down of the appliance.
• In the event of such corruption, the appliance becomes unstable and won’t be able to boot with the loaded Firmware. In SafeMode it displays the following warning message.
  
                          Warning! Storage in unusable state. Format suggested (see 'Advanced options'). 
  
  
• Format Storage helps in manually restoring the system using an external backup.
• Format of the storage can be initiated at any time by the administrator of the appliance. However, it is not recommended to exercise this option unless prompted to do so by the above message.
• On completion of the format, customer has to load the firmware from SafeMode and boot with factory defaults. Settings must be imported from external backup to restore to normal function of the unit.
• Current and backup settings are erased after format.
