Zone Based Updating

• The purpose of this document is to list the steps required to hold specific devices or OS types at a desired agent version.

Creating a Zone for Desired Devices

If you want to hold a specific device, set of devices, or devices with a specific OS type at a certain agent version.

1. Log in to the Cylance console as an Administrator.
2. Click the Zones tab on the left.
3. Click the green ADD NEW ZONE button.

4. Name the new zone appropriately.
   • Such as *macOS Version Control
5. Add the desired devices to the new zone.
   • You do NOT have to remove the devices from their currently assigned zones, as devices can belong to multiple zones.
   • You can add the OS Version column to the Devices tab. Then use that column to sort and add all the devices of a desired OS type to the new zone.

Setting Versions for Desired Zones

1. Log in to the Cylance console as an Administrator.
2. Click Settings > Update.

• • On this page, there are three sections or phases: Test, Pilot, and Production.
    • The number of zones and the Agent version for each group displays in the left pane.
    • Selecting a group updates the information in the right pane.

3. In the Test or Pilot section, select the desired zone(s) from the Zones drop-down list on the right.

4. From the Agent drop-down list, select the agent version to deploy to the selected zone(s).

5. Verify that Auto Update is not selected for any of the phases.
   1. In place of Auto Update, select the desired agent version or Do Not Update.
6. Click the blue Apply button to save your changes.

Specifying an agent version will install that version onto those agents if it is not on that version yet (unless the selected version is not available for that OS). 

If a device is assigned to multiple zones, the Priority for versions will be in this order: 

• Test
• Pilot
• Production
