Question:
What’s the difference between guest account and local user with guest privilege?
Answer:
Guest account has an account life time. Once it expires, it can no longer be used to login. Local user does not have this limitation.
Guest account has a session life time which will be reduced at each logoff with this account. Once it expires, it can no longer be used to login. Local user has a fixed session life time for each login that can be configured in users -> Settings, “Login session limit (minutes)”, by default 30 minutes.
Local user can also be administrator, user has the possibility to access gateway after he/she login as a guest.
Question:
Why the login page cannot be redirected or redirection takes a long time?
Answer:
Go to diag.html page and make sure "Enable TCP packet option tagging" is not checked. Enabling this hidden option is known to lead redirection failure.
And redirection has by default a 15 seconds minimal interval. This can also be configured in diag.html, “Wireless Guest Services Redirect Interval”. We recommend not changing it. That means if your first request gets redirected by lost for some reason, firewall will not redirect again before 15 seconds. If this happens please wait a little while and then try again.
Question:
Why I cannot login with guest account, error message saying wrong location?
Answer:
This can be caused by two reasons:
Please check if Guest Services is enabled for this interface.
If Guest Services is enabled, this may happen with firmware early then 5.5.0. Guest must go through redirect process to login as guest, if guest try to access auth.html directly without redirection, he/she may get this error.
Question: I am using LHM, why redirection fails? Answer: After user successfully connect to SonicPoint/SonicPointN, it may need a few seconds that gateway learns the necessary information.
LHM redirection possibly fails if it happens in this very short interval. Please wait a few seconds and try again if this happens.
Question: After successfully authenticated as guest, why there is no guest status popup? Answer: Please verify your browser allow popup windows, configuration differs for different browser, please check you Internet browser’s help file.
Question: I enabled Guest Services, why gateway built-in administrator cannot login from wireless zone and why limited admin with guest privilege cannot see the manage button in guest status popup?
Answer:
These questions are not really related to Guest Services. Gateway built-in admin cannot login from wireless zone is by design.
And limited admin is no applied to DMZ zone, also by design.
