    Resolution

    Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

    To Export settings

Under Device| Settings | Firmware & Backups, Click Import/Export Configuration| Export Configuration. This option will save .exp file on the hard drive of the computer you are logged in with, containing the configuration of the SonicWall GUI but not the firmware.

    To Backup settings

Under Device| Settings | Firmware & Backups, Click Create Backup. This option will allow you to save an image of the firmware and current configuration in any of the 2 locations.

    1. Local backup, this stores the configuration on the internal memory of the SonicWall.
    2. Cloud backup, stores a copy of the firmware and configuration on the cloud server. This option allows a max of 30 configuration files to be stored.
There is also an option to schedule a settings backup on a regular basis on the cloud. The configuration image will appear in the Firmware image list.

Resolution for SonicOS 6.2 and Below

The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. For firewalls that are generation 6 and newer we suggest to upgrade to the latest general release of SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

This article describes how to save your current configuration under System | Settings.

If you click on Export Settings you will be able to save a file with .exp extension on your hard drive. This file contains your configuration (except your login credentials to the SonicWall GUI) but not the firmware.

If you click on Create Backup Settings you will save an image of the firmware and the current configuration on SonicWall's internal memory.
The image will appear in the Firmware Image list.
