Shared Secret Constraints:

The Shared Secret configured in a VPN policy, either WAN GroupVPN or Site to Site VPN, must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum length - 4 characters
  • Maximum length - 128 characters
  • Characters allowed - Any of the standard printable ASCII characters except white space - ASCII codes between 33 and 126 inclusive - are allowed in VPN Shared Secret. In other words, the VPN Shared Secret should only contain alphanumeric (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and the following special characters: 
    • For Gen6 devices : !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[]^_`{|}~
    • For Gen7 devices : "!","@","#","$","%","^","&","*","-","_","(", "=", ">",".", and ")"
