Users on Netextender 10.3.0 version failing to connect with the following error message " Cannot get a response from the server "

Description

This article explains the symptoms and workaround for a connectivity issue affecting Netextender client users with version 10.3.0. The users attempting to connect to the VPN encounter the following error message: "Cannot get a response from the server."

Resolution

The issue was reported to SonicWall Support, and currently, a workaround has been identified as below:

  1. Use the server's IP address to establish the connection instead of FQDN.
  2. Downgrade Netextender to version 10.2.x (for example, 10.2.341 or 10.2.339), as the issue only occurs with version 10.3.0.
  3. If connecting via hostname in "Tunnel All Mode," enable "Exclude Local Networks in Tunnel All Mode," as shown below:

Please follow these steps:

  • On the Netextender application on the client PC.
  • Navigate to MORE
  • Click Properties, select Connect Settings, and here under the WHEN CONNECTED WITH TUNNELALL MODE, Enable the option for "Exclude local network (could be overwritten by server configuration)."Image
