Trouble shooting a scenario where the user changes the default login HTML page
SCENARIO / SYMPTOM
• When the SonicWall IP address was accessed for login, the login credential page did not show • The display shows these words ‘Blanh Blanh Blanh’, with no option to enter login credentials • The firmware version on TZ 215 was 22.214.171.124
• The resolution is to enter https://SonicWallip/defauth.html • The link displays the SonicWall login page where the login credentials can be entered
Note: In 5.8 Firmware, you will be prompted to change the html content in the login authentication page, under -user – settings • Be careful to verify the HTML of your custom login page before deploying it, because HTML errors may cause the login page to not function properly. An alternative login page is always available for the administrator, in case a customized login page has any issues. • To access the alternate login page, manually input URL: http://(device_ip)/defauth.html orhttps://(device_ip)/defauth.html directly into the address line of browser (case sensitive). The default login page without any customization is then displayed, allowing you to login as normal and reset your customized login related pages.
Note: In 5.9 Firmware, you could get any warning if you change the html content in the login authentication page under -user – settings • To set a custom login page, choose the Login Page type in the drop-down list below. Then click the Default Page button, edit the HTML content in the text field and click Accept button to save your settings.
• After login, go to - User – Settings and change the ‘Customize Login Page’ to default and click ‘Accept’ button to save your settings • It will display the default SonicWall login screen to access Management UI, the time it is accessed • KB: https://support.SonicWall.com/kb/sw12007
