SSL-VPN 2FA: How to unbind TOTP for a single user or multiple users

This article provides information on how to unbind TOTP for a single user or multiple users if the user looses access to the cellphone that the App is already bind to. 

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

If the TOTP is enabled at User level :

1. Navigate to DEVICE | Users |Local Users & Groups > Local Users and select the user you want to unbind the TOTP for.
2. Click on Edit
3. Click on Unbind TOTP Key option next to TOTP setting.
   
   
   
   
   
   

If the TOTP is enabled at Group level, not at User level:

1. On the User Settings the ‘One-time password method’ is set to Disabled - so there is no UNBIND OTP KEY button there.
   
   
   
   
2. Under Local Group Settings, the OTP method is set to TOTP and there is no Unbind button there either.
   
   
   
   
3. In this case, Go to DEVICE | Users |Local Users & Groups > Local Users and Enable TOTP for the user that you want the UNBIND for. Save the settings.
   
   
4. After Enabling TOTP, click Unbind TOTP Key for that user.

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

If the TOTP is enabled at User level :

1. Navigate to MANAGE | Local Users & Groups |Local users and select the user you want to unbind the TOTP for.
2. Click the configure option and hit Unbind TOTP Key option next to TOTP setting.
   
   
   

If the TOTP is enabled at Group level, not at User level:

1. On the user settings the ‘One-time password method’ is set to Disabled - so there is no UNBIND OTP KEY button there.
   
   
   
   
2. Under Local Group Settings, the OTP method is set to TOTP and there is no Unbind button there either.
   
   
   
   
3. In this case, Navigate to  MANAGE | Users | Local Users & Groups > Local Users and select ENABLE TOTP for the user that you want the UNBIND for. Save the settings.
   
   
   
   
4. After Enabling TOTP, click UNBIND TOTP Key for that user.
