Administrators may find SonicWALL firewall showing Unknown User percentage traffic flowing in the network and may get worried about it as shown below :
SonicWALL firewall will treat all the IP based connections of local traffic as 'Unknown User' and will treat it as an unauthenticated traffic.
A simple example to understand is the default LAN>WAN access rule with no authentication mechanism setup will forward all the outgoing traffic. All this traffic will be IP based and hence no user record will be available in the firewall.
Hence, if administrators want to pull report based on users, it will not show any data but if the report is pulled based on IP address, it will show the information.
As the suggestion itself shows below it is to Setup Authentication mechanism. Firewall will authenticate the local network traffic and will keep a record of all the user name under its User's Status section.
