Installation of hotfixes is necessary to facilitate support of Secure Mobile Access virtual appliances managed by a Central Management Server.
Prior to hotfixes 11.4.0-652 and 12.0.1-072, Secure Mobile Access virtual appliances (Secure Mobile Access 8200v) that did not have their own license (used Central Management Server pooled license model) were issued appliance serial numbers by the Central Management Server that managed them. These serial numbers were not unique and were not known to the MySonicWall backend service. Consequently support and other business processes that relied on appliances having unique serial numbers that are issued by MySonicWall were confused and adversely impacted.
Hotfixes 11.4.0-652 and 12.0.1-072 include changes so that a customer's Central Management Server (that uses pooled licensing) will get serial numbers issued from MySonicWall for its managed appliances. Central Management Server then assigns these MySonicWall-issued serial numbers to appliances that register with it. This gives every Secure Mobile Access virtual appliance a globally unique serial number that is known to the MySonicWall backend service.
