Setting user rights on Email Security server
Resolution
User Rights on Email security server:
An Administrator can edit users’ rights or assign roles to users on email security server.
The possible roles are as follows:
- Administrator: This user has full administrative rights. He can log in as any user to change that user's individual settings and view Junk Boxes, manage the corporate Junk Box, and configure all of SonicWall Email Security.
- Help Desk: This user has access to the corporate Junk Box and can unjunk items. They can log in as any user to change that user's individual settings and view Junk Boxes however this user cannot change corporate-wide settings or other server configurations.
- Manager: The user with manager rights has access to the corporate Reports and Monitoring screens. However they cannot change any configuration settings. This user cannot sign in as anyone other than his or her own user account.
- User: This user is allowed to log in to SonicWall Email Security as just himself; he can access only his individual user settings, and can only customize these individual user settings. Administrators may choose to allow users access to other areas such as reports, message management, and downloads.
- Adhere to Group rights: If the user is a part of assign roles to groups found in LDAP, this option will be available as default indicating that user inherits the rights from the assigned group
Steps to setup user rights are as follows:
- Login to the email security server as Admin
- Go to Manage | System Setup | Users,Groups & Organizations
- Click on “Users”
- Select the check box next to the User you want to give/change rights for.
- Click on Edit user rights
- Change the rights
- Apply changes
