Feature/Application:
Prior to SonicOS 5.9 when a SonicPoint device is managed by a SonicWall UTM appliance, the initial configuration is supplied to the device via the configuration specified in the related Provisioning Profile. Provisioning Profiles are considered configuration templates and are not directly associated with the SonicPoints. This design requires administrators to manually delete all SonicPoint devices and then synchronize them with the profile, which is not ideal for large deployment scenarios.
In SonicOS 5.9 and above with Auto Provisioning option, SonicPoints (a/g/N/Ni/Ne/NDR) can be reprovisioned automatically (configured at the Zone) when the Provisioning Profile is updated thereby increasing management efficiency and ease of use. In order to simplify the configuration procedure, and ease the management overhead, each "Wireless" Zone will be provided a checkbox for each Provisioning Profile to determine if Auto Provisioning should be enforced via that Zone.
For deployment scenarios where multiple "Wireless" Zones exist, Auto Provisioning need only be enabled in the Zone through which the SonicPoint management/provisioning traffic flows.-kA1VN0000000FvL0AU-0EMVN00000EoA8z.png)
By default, the checkboxes which enforce Auto Provisioning for SonicPoint a/b/g, SonicPoint-N/Ni/Ne, and SonicPoint-NDR are unchecked, resulting in the same behavior present in SonicOS prior to 5.9.
When Auto Provisioning is enabled, the SonicWall can intelligently determine which SonicPoint devices are linked to that Zone/Provisioning Profile. This allows the administrator to enable Auto Provisioning before or after the SonicPoints are known to the SonicWall.
