Initial Configuration in Cylance Tenant

There are three primary items that need to be configured when initially setting up MTD in your Cylance tenant.

• User Groups, these are used to manage and identify groups of Mobile Users, as well as automatically apply the needed policies to members of the User Group
• Enrollment Policy, this is a policy that needs to be assigned to Mobile users so they receive an enrollment invitation to register the BlackBerry Protect app on their mobile device(s)
• Protect Mobile Policy, this is the policy that enables or disables the desired monitoring features for the BlackBerry Protect mobile app

User Groups

The recommended method to manage Mobile Users is to create User Groups, you can name these by Client/Customer if desired, or simply create a single Mobile Users group called MTD Users.

To create a User Group:

• Make sure you are logged into the desired Cylance tenant as an Administrator
• Hover over the ASSETS tab on the left and select the User Groups option.

 

• Click the green Add Group button to create a new User Group

 

• Enter the desired Group name and Description.

 

• Click the blue SAVE button near the bottom of the screen.
  • Skip adding Policies for now if they have not already been created.
• Create the Enrollment Policy and the Protect Mobile Policy and assign them to the User Group

Enrollment Policy

This is a policy that needs to be assigned to Mobile users so they receive an enrollment invitation to register the BlackBerry Protect app on their mobile device(s).

To create an Enrollment Policy:

• Make sure you are logged into the desired Cylance tenant as an Administrator
• Hover over the POLICIES tab on the left and select the User Policy option.

 

• Make sure you are viewing the Enrollment section near the top and then select the green ADD POLICY button.

 

• Enter the policy Name: MTD Enrollment Policy
• Enter the Description: Sends invitation to register BlackBerry Protect app.

 

• IMPORTANT!!
  • Select the GATEWAY DESKTOP option under Settings and then turn off the Allowed platforms option.

 

• Select the Mobile option under Settings and make sure both iOS and Android platforms are allowed.

 

• Click the blue SAVE button near the bottom of the screen.
• Click the blue YES button in the pop-up to add this Enrollment Policy to a previously created User Group
• Click the green ADD USER OR GROUP button.

• Search for the User Group you would like to assign this Enrollment Policy to.

 

• Select the checkbox for the desired User Group and select the blue ADD button near the bottom of the screen

• Mobile Users who are part of that User Group, or who are added to the group in the future will automatically receive the invitation to register the BlackBerry Protect app on their mobile device(s)

Protect Mobile Policy

This is the policy that enables or disables the desired monitoring features for the BlackBerry Protect mobile app.

To create a Protect Mobile Policy:

• Make sure you are logged into the desired Cylance tenant as an Administrator
• Hover over the POLICIES tab on the left and select the User Policy option.

 

• Make sure you are viewing the Protect Mobile section near the top and then select the green ADD POLICY button.

 

• Enter the policy Name: Standard
• Enter the Description: Mobile Device Policy

 

• Notifications
  • Warning count: 3
  • Warning interval: 4
  • Interval period: Hours
• Data Privacy, turned off
  • Personal information from mobile devices is already not collected or visible
  • You can turn this on if you want even less information available in the dashboard

Device Settings

• Leave everything set how it is for both ANDROID and IOS
• Click the blue ADD button near the bottom of the screen
• Click the blue YES button in the pop-up to add this Protect Mobile Policy to a previously created User Group
• Click the green ADD USER OR GROUP button

 

• Search for the User Group you would like to assign this Mobile Device Policy to.

 

• Select the checkbox for the desired User Group and select the blue ADD button near the bottom of the screen
• Mobile Users who are part of that User Group, or who are added to the group in the future will automatically have this Mobile Device Policy assigned to their registered mobile device(s)

Adding Mobile Users

Adding a Mobile User allows them to register the BlackBerry Protect app on their mobile devices.

To add a new Mobile User:

• Make sure you are logged into the desired Cylance tenant as an Administrator
• Hover over the ASSETS tab on the left and select the Users option

 

• Click the green ADD USERS button.

 

• Enter the desired User Details and make certain to move the desired User Group (MTD Users) to the Selected Groups section.

 

• Click the white SAVE button to finish adding the new Mobile User
  • You can click the blue SAVE AND NEW button to add this Mobile User and continue adding additional users
