 FAQ's about macOS Sonoma support for the End-point protection software engine - 'SonicWall Capture Client' support and upgrade process

What is macOS Sonoma?

• macOS Sonoma is the upcoming major release of macOS, Apple's operating system for Mac computers.
• The successor to macOS Ventura, it was announced at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2023 on June 5, 2023, and is expected to release in late 2023 although, it’s first developer beta was released on June 5, 2023.

What is the version number of the Capture client and SentinelOne Agent that support beta version of macOS Sonoma?

• We recommend that you suspend OS updates until SonicWall and SentinelOneformally supports the new macOS versions. However, if you would like to test beta version of macOS Sonoma in your test environment then you can install Capture client macOS Agent version 3.7.7 with SentinelOne Agent version 23.1 from the Capture client management console.

What is the recommended process to upgrade to beta version of Sonoma?

The following recommendations are only for the test environments,

1. Upgrade your Capture client macOS Agent to 3.7.7 and SentinelOne macOS Agent version to 23.1 or higher.
2. Upgrade your macOS endpoint to Sonoma.

What happens if I upgrade my endpoint operating system to Sonoma while still using an unsupported CC/S1 Agent?

1. If a macOS endpoint is upgraded to macOS Sonoma without supported Capture client and SentinelOne Agent, and the Capture client Agent version is 3.7 and lower and SentinelOne Agent version is 23.1 and lower, the Agent can become unresponsive and will not communicate with the Management Console and your endpoint will not be protected. This state is not recommended and requires an immediate Agent upgrade to a supported version.
2. If a macOS endpoint is upgraded to macOS Sonoma without supported Capture client and SentinelOne Agent, and the Capture client Agent version is 3.7.7 and higher and SentinelOne Agent version is 23.1 and higher, the Agent is expected to communicate with the Management Console and protect your endpoint.
