SonicWall NSv virtual firewalls can be deployed on VMware ESXi by importing an OVA package.
However, this article explains how to deploy the NSv and how to resolve the disk image error that may appear during initial deployment.
At the time this article was created, the deployment was performed using NSv version 7.3.1 on an ESXi Host Client running version 7.0.3.
1. Review System Requirements
Before deployment, verify CPU, memory, storage, and supported hypervisor requirements.

These files will be imported into ESXi during deployment.
1. Open the VM Creation Wizard
In the ESXi Host Client, select: Create / Register VM
2. Choose the Deployment Method
Select: Deploy a virtual machine from an OVF or OVA file Click Next.
3. Name the Virtual Machine
Enter a name for the NSv instance.
Drag and drop the extracted files (.ovf, .vmdk, .mf, etc.) into the file selection area.

4. Select a Datastore
Choose the datastore where the virtual machine files will be stored. Click Next.
5. Accept the License Agreement
Review and accept the SonicWall license terms. Click Next.
