ICMP Redirect force to change the routing table

Description

ICMP Redirect is a mechanism to convey routing information to hosts. The message informs a host to update its routing information (to send packets on an alternative route).

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

If for a specific reason there is the need to disable the ICMP Redirect option on the LAN Zone  follow the instruction below:

  • Navigate to Network|Firewall|Advanced|Under Access Rule Options, Disable the option"Enable ICMP Redirect on LAN zone"Image
  • Now the ICMP Redirect should be disabled on the LAN Zone.

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

If for a specific reason there is the need to disable the ICMP Redirect option on the LAN Zone  follow the instruction   below:

  • Navigate to Manage|Firewall Settings | Advanced, Disable the option “Enable ICMP Redirect on LAN zone”.Image
  • Now the ICMP Redirect should be disabled on the LAN Zone.
