I can not access via ssh the Email Security, what can I do ?

Description

I cannot access via ssh the Email Security, what can I do ?

Resolution

To turn off the SSH Service on SonicWall Email security :
⦁ Log into the CLI using Putty.
⦁ Install “ putty”- a telnet client from the internet ( you can download it from internet )
⦁ Open putty and put in the IP address of Email security device and port “ 22
⦁ Login as : “ snwlcli
⦁ Login: admin
⦁ Password : ( admin password that you use for logging in the WebUI)
⦁ On the CLI prompt type the following commands
⦁ SNWLCLI> sshd off

⦁ Login as : “ snwlcli
⦁ Login:  admin
⦁ Password : ( admin password  that you use for logging in the WebUI)
⦁ On the CLI prompt type the following commands
⦁ SNWLCLI> sshd on

Go to Manage | Server under System setup | SSH settings

Image EXAMPLE:
Let's say your ES Device has the IP 192.168.168.169 and you are in the 192.168.168.x network. From a pc with 192.168.168.111 check with putty on port 22 if you can establish a connection. If not, then check within the GUI of the Email Security if the SSH Access if enabled.

NOTE: If you see a message like "connection refused" then the ssh service is not running or a device in between is blocking the connection(like firewall). If you are still unable to access the device via SSH , please contact Technical Support for further assistance.

 

NOTE: If the navigation or the screenshot looks different from the one mentioned above , you may be in an older firmware version and would require a firmware upgrade. Please refer the link below to upgrade the firmware to latest version.
