How to upgrade the cluster unit on Aventail Devices.
Requirements to upgrade:
1) Make sure you go through release notes of the firmware you want to upgrade or contactSonicWall to know the correct upgrade path from the version you are on and to the version you want to upgrade the device to. 2) Have all the upgrade files and the latest hotfixes for the firmware downloaded and ready to install. 3) Firmware and the hotfixes can be downloaded using your account from the mySonicWall.com . 4) Installation of upgrade files and hotfixes are to be done locally inside the network. 5) Both the master and the slave should be in the same level of firmware and same level of hotfixes.
Steps to upgrade:
Step 1:- Log in to AMC on both the master and slave nodes. You can do this from one computer and have both AMC windows open at the same time, side by side. Step 2:- Please make sure that you first install it on the master (First node). Once you start the install process on the master there will be a pop up in the slave node ( As below) to assign it as master. Make sure you assign it as master.
Step 3:- Log in to AMC on the master node and then, from the main navigation menu in AMC, click Maintenance. Step 4:- In the System software updates area, click Update. Browse the firmware file to locate it. Step 5:- Click Install Update. Once the master comes back up after the upgrade, then Install the upgrade on the slave (second node) following the same installation steps. Step 6:- Make sure that the update succeeded by verifying that the version number is correct in AMC on both nodes. Troubleshooting:
If the firmware upgrade fails, you can use winscp to check these logs files to determine the cause of the failure.
