How to upgrade switch firmware via the firewall interface ?

Description

 To perform the firmware upgrade, the Switch must be connected to the Internet. Check that the Switch has access to the Internet by checking that the firewall or other DHCP server between it and the Internet is providing an IP address to the Switch.

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

  • Navigate to Device | External Controllers | Switch Network | Overview
  • Click the verticle ellipsis (three vertical dots) as pointed in the below screenshot
  • Select the Update Firmware option from the List.

  • Click to select the most recent available firmware to upload.

 NOTE: Downloading and re-booting of the Switch may take over ten minutes. Wait for the front panel LEDs to flash, indicating the Switch has rebooted.


Resolution for SonicOS 6.5

  • Navigate to Manage| System Setup |Switch Controller|Switches.
  • Click on Firmware.
  • Scroll down the Select new Firmware
