I. What version of SonicOS has support for SonicWall access points and all legacy SonicPoints?
- Generation 5 SonicWall with SonicOS 5.9.1.0 and above
- Generation 6 SonicWall with SonicOS 6.2.2.0 and above
II. Auto-Registration of SonicWall access points:
- Your SonicWall access points is not registered in MySonicWall.com? No problem, just connect your SonicWall access points to a SonicWall interface on your WLAN zone.
- In this example we have connected and configured a SonicWall access point to interface X4 in the WLAN zone.

- When the SonicWall appliance access the Internet, it will sync up with the SonicWall’s MySonicWall registration system (this generally happens once every 24hrs once or in some cases after a restart).
- When the MySonicWall registration system checks the registration status of the SonicWall appliance, any SonicWall access points found which are not registered will get auto registered to your MySonicWall Account and get associated to its parent appliance.
- In this example, MySonicWall Account shows a SonicPoint N2 registered and associated to the serial number of a SonicWall appliance:
III. Manual Registration of SonicWall access points:
- Take a note of the Serial Number (12 digits Hexadecimal Number) and Authentication Code (8 digits) from back of the Appliance. You can also obtain this information from the label on the shipment box:

- Next, go to www.mysonicwall.com and login to your MySonicWall account using your account credentials.
- Under My Products, click on Register Product to go to the product registration page:

- Enter Serial Number.
- Enter a Friendly Name for the SonicWall access points to easily identify the unit.
- Choose the Product Group, normally the default product group is selected.
- Enter Authentication Code.
- Click Register - This completes the Registration and displays the Service.
Important: The access point expiration date depends on the length of the service contract purchased.
Note: A Valid Support Contract is required in order to engage Technical Support on SonicWall access points and the managing parent appliance

- To associate the access point to a SonicWall, go to My Products and select Product Management.
- Chose a SonicWall appliance that you want to associate the access point. In this example we will pick a SonicWall NSA 250. Clicking on the SonicWall appliance link takes you to its Service Management page.

- At the bottom of the SonicWall Service Management Page under Associated Products, click on "SonicPoint" hyperlink to bring up My Product - Associated Products page.

- Chose the SonicWall access point from the drop-down list and click on Associate.

- Your SonicWall access point is now registered and associated to a SonicWall. In this example a SonicPoint N2 is registered and associated to a SonicWall NSA 250.

- What is minimum SonicOS version that has support for both SonicPoint ACe/ACi/N2 access point and legacy SonicPoints?
- Generation 5 SonicWall: SonicOS 5.9.1.0 and above
- Generation 6 SonicWall: SonicOS 6.2.2.0 and above
- We are only deploying legacy SonicPoints and not SonicPoint ACe/ACi/N2, do we need to upgrade SonicOS?
- Upgrade is not needed, however if you wish to upgrade SonicOS, the newer version will support legacy SonicPoints and add future support for SonicPoint ACe/ACi/N2
