How to hide SSID of Access Points Managed by firewall

This article shows how to hide SSID of an AccessPoint managed by firewall

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.



  1. Navigate to DEVICE | Access Points | Virtual Access Point
  2. In the Section Virtual Access Point Objects, edit or create a Virtual Access Point
  3. Check the option Enable SSID Suppress.
  4. Click Accept
  5. The user that attempt to use the Wifi needs to type the SSID manually in order to find the network.
     NOTE: The Access Points where this VAP is configured will be rebooted.

  1. Navigate to MANAGE | Access Points | Virtual Access Point
  2. In the Section Virtual Access Point, edit or create a Virtual Access Point
  3. Check the option Enable SSID Suppress.
  4. Click OK
  5. The user that attempt to use the Wifi needs to type the SSID manually in order to find the network.
     NOTE: The Access Points where this VAP is configured will be rebooted.
