How to determine maximum DPI-SSL connections on SonicWall firewalls?
Resolution
Resolution for SonicOS 7.X
This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.
DPI-SSL Connection:
DPI-SSL connections information is available under the Policy |DPI-SSL |Client SSL page.
However you can always find the DPI-SSL connection information in the SonicOS TSR:
- Go to Device | Diagnostics | Tech Support Report
- Click the Download Report button to download TSR to your local storage.
The SonicOS TSR file is a text file, open the TSR with a word processing program such as MS WordPad or NotePad++.
Search and find the key word "SSL proxied connection count", Here is an example for the same:

DPI-SSL connections informations is available under the Manage |Decryption services|DPI-SSL page.
However you can always find the DPI-SSL connection information in the SonicOS TSR:
- Go to Investigate | System Diagnostics | Tech Support Report
- Click the Download Report button to download TSR to your local storage.

Resolution for SonicOS 6.2 and Below
The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. For firewalls that are generation 6 and newer we suggest to upgrade to the latest general release of SonicOS 6.5 firmware.
In SonicOS 6.2.5.0 and above, DPI-SSL connection information is available under DPI-SSL.
Here is an example of a SonicWall TZ500 running SonicOS 6.2.5.0 with DPI-SSL Status
However you can always find the DPI-SSL connection information in the SonicOS TSR:
- Go to System | Diagnostics | Tech Support Report
- Click the Download Report button to download TSR to your local storage
