How to configure OSPF in NSSP 13700 ?

Description

In this article, we will explain the steps to configure OSPF in the Backbone area between two SonicWall devices NSSP 13700 and NSA 6700 for the purpose of exchanging routes. X3 Interface of the NSSP 13700 is connected to the X3 interface of the NSA 6700.

Resolution

NSSP 13700 Configuration:

  1. Login to the SonicWall Management GUI and navigate to Network | System | Dynamic Routing.
  2. Under Settings, enable Advanced Routing Mode.

  3. Under OSPFv2 Tab, edit the X3 interface configuration of NSSP 13700 connected to NSA 6700 and Change the OSPFv2 dropdown to Enabled.

  4. Edit the Settings option in the Right-side top of the page and enable the options Redistribute Connected networks and Static routes.

NSA 6700 Configuration:

  1. Login to the SonicWall Management GUI and navigate to Network | System | Dynamic Routing.
  2. Under Settings, enable Advanced Routing Mode

  3. Under OSPFv2 Tab, edit the X3 interface configuration of NSA 6700 connected to NSSP 13700 and Change the OSPFv2 dropdown to Enabled.

  4. Edit the Settings option in the Right-side top of the page and enable the options Redistribute Connected networks and Static routes.

How to test connectivity from NSSP 13700:

  • Once the OSPF is UP, we will see the green indication next to the interface in the OSPF settings.

  • We can check the route policies in the firewall for the list of routes learned for the OSPF neighbor. Routes with metric 110 are learned from OSPF neighbors.

  • Ping the IP address of the remote location device from the command prompt to check the connectivity.

How to test connectivity from NSA 6700:

  • Once the OSPF is UP, we will see the green indication next to the interface in the OSPF settings.
