How to configure a separate range of IP addresses for GVC connections

Description

How to configure a separate range of IP addresses for GVC connections

Resolution

In this how-to article, we will explain how to setup a different range of IP addresses for GVC connections. For example if you want to specifically identify GVC users in your network by assigning them IP addresses from an interface other the default X0 (LAN).

We assume your GVC connections are already setup. If not, refer to "How to Configure WAN GroupVPN for connecting with Global VPN Client".

Procedure:

Step 1 : You will need to create a new VLAN or use one of your unassigned port to create a new network. In our case, we will use an unassigned port. Go to Network > Interfaces and configure one of your unassigned interface (X2 in this case) :

LAN Configuration

Once this interface is configured, we need to be sure there is a DHCP lease ready to be used. Go to Network > DHCP Server, then click on Add Dynamic to add the following DHCP scope:

DHCP lease

Finally, navigate to VPN > DHCP over VPN and configure the Central Gateway. You need to enter the SonicWall IP addres on the interface you configured before (X2 interface IP in this example) :

DHCP over VPN Central Gateway

Connect with GVC to confirm it is working :

GVC connection established
