How to apply a customized firmware to an Access Point

This Kb describes the process to apply customized firmware to an access point.

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

Access the firewall internal settings (diag page) - The diag page can be reached by typing in the LAN IP of the SonicWall in the browser, with a IP/sonicui/7/m/mgmt/settings/diag at the end.

How to access the firewall internal settings.

1. Click in Internal Settings.
2. Search forApply Customized Firmware to SonicWave, enable and write the firmware version to be applied for 400 series or 200 series.
3. Click Accept and Exit Internal Settings.
4. Navigate to DEVICE | Access Points | Firmware Management | Click Upload Firmware.
5. Click in Choose file in order to select the HF firmware provided by the Technical Support and click in Upload.
6. The Access Points now will be rebooted with the HF firmware version.

Resolution for SonicOS 6.5

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

1. Access the firewall internal settings (diag page). The diag page can be reached by typing in the LAN IP of the SonicWall in the browser, with a /diag.html at the end.
   How to access the internal settings?
2. Search for Apply Customized Firmware to Sonicwave. Enable and write the firmware version to be applied for 400 series or 200 series. Click in ACCEPT and CLOSE
   
3. Navigate to MANAGE | Access Points | Firmware Management and click under Action tab Upload.
   
4. Choose File provided by the Technical Support and click in Upload.
   
5. The Access Points now will be rebooted with the HF firmware version.
