DESCRIPTION: How to Allow Access to a Specific Network Share and Not Root
This article gives a high-level overview of how to configure access to a specific network share on a server, but deny access to the root of the server.
The following must be created on the appliance before going through the procedure below:
Set up two network share resources:
One should point to the root of the server. For example: \server
The other should point to a specific share on that server. For example: \servershare
To configure Access Control rules so that they restrict access to the root of the server but allow access to the share, you need to configure rules as such:
In the Aventail Management Console (AMC), click Access Control, and create a new Permit rule from a "user" to the specific network share resource you created earlier (\servershare). Save this rule when finished.
Now, create a Deny rule below the previous rule from "user" to the root of the server. Use the \server resource you created earlier. Save this rule when finished.
