How to add switches on the WNM zone when we get Error message: Failed to assign device

Response error code: [400]

If you're getting the below screenshot Error when adding the switch in WCM or cloud.sonicwall.com under the default zone or custom zone.

Step 1: Check if the switch can be accessible through standalone with the switch IP address: https://192.168.168.*.

Step 2: Once you log in, go to User Management and change the switch default password "Password@123".

Requirement: The password must be at least 10 characters long, must contain at least one capital letter, must contain at least one number, can only use these special characters: %-._`:/#[]@*,numbers and English letters.

Step 3: Once the password is changed successfully. Kindly log in to your respective Mysonicwall account

Step 4: Goto Policies|Switch policies click on edit default or custom policy on which you will be adding the switch, reenter the new password under the user management option, and click on OK to save.

Step 5: After making the above changes on the standalone switch and switch policy in https://cloud.sonicwall.com/muir/spog/login try adding the switch to the respective zones.

NOTE: This procedure is not applicable for firewall-managed and standalone-managed switches.
