How do I upgrade firmware on an Email Security Software?

Description

You can perform firmware upgrades when logged into Email Security as the administrator. The full installer for Email Security software includes installation of Apache Tomcat, the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), Firebird, and MySQL as well as the base Email Security

NOTE: Sonicwall recommends that you use the signed update packages for software upgrades. Even though it has a .exe file type, the update package has to be run through the web interface rather than from the operating system. Download the release notes to learn more about new features or resolved issues.

CAUTION: Before upgrading the firmware to the latest firmware version, make sure you do not miss upgrading any intermediate firmware versions. Please refer to the solution below to follow the upgrade path.

Firmware upgrade path for Sonicwall Email Security Solutions

Resolution

To upgrade your existing Email Security software:

  1. Log into your MySonicWall account and download the new Email Security Software updater package to your management system.
  2. Log into Email Security using the admin account.
  3. Navigate to MANAGE | Firmware Update.
  4. Click Browse to locate the Email Security software updater package on your local file system.
  5. Click Apply Patch.

    CAUTION: As a part of the upgrade process, the Windows server does reboot. The upgrade process could take between 10 and 20 minutes. All settings and data are preserved. Please take a backup of our settings before you do the upgrade.
