How do I stop auto-update of NetExtender?

Description

NetExtender when installed as exe installations will automatically update whenever firmware on SMA is upgraded to a newer version. In case if an admin would like to stop the clients update, this is possible starting from firmware 9.0.0.0-9sv and NetExtender 9.0.274 onwards.

Cause

If an administrator does not want NetExtender to auto-update they can stop the updates starting from firmware 9.0.0.0-9sv and NetExtender version 9.0.274

Resolution

In-order to stop auto-updates of NetExtender, we have to configure the appliance as well as the NetExtender Client.

  1.  Login to appliance and navigate to Clients | Settings . Under Client Settings, set Allow Client Turn Off Auto Update: to Enabled. Click Accept at the bottom.Image

  2. Now, on NetExtender (versions 9.0.274 and above), click on the Properties icon.

  1. Clicking on Properties icon as shown above will open NetExtender Properties window.
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Enable "Disable auto upgrade when admin allowed".
  4. Click Apply and OK.

Now, if admin has also enabled the "Allow Client Turn off autoupdate" (Step a)in appliance , then NetExtender will not automatically update whenever the firmware is upgraded. The change in NetExtender (as in Step b) has to be manually done by the NetExtender users and can not be automatically pushed to end-users.
