How can I check the data usage of Internal machines using the Connections Monitor?

Description
This article describes how to check the real time inbound and outbound traffic of Internal machines using the Connection Monitor diagnostic tool.The Connections Monitor displays real-time, exportable (plain text or CSV), filterable views of all connections to and through the SonicWall security appliance.
Resolution
Resolution for SonicOS 6.5
This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.
- Navigate to Investigate tab.
- System Diagnostics page, select the option Connections Monitor from the dropdown list.
- You will now see all the active connections that are going out from your internal network.
NOTE:Rx Bytes stand for Bytes received (download) and Tx Bytes for Bytes transferred (upload).
Connections Monitor Settings
You can filter the results to display only connections matching certain criteria. Filtering options include:
- Source IP
- Destination IP
- Destination Port
- Protocol, Source (Src) Interface
- Destination (Dst) Interface
- Enter your filter criteria in the Active Connections Monitor Settings table and click Apply Filters.
- Once you click Apply Filters, the page displays the results based on the filter Criteria. You can also click Export Results to save the results on your computer.
- Once you filter the list with your criteria you can check the number of Rx and Tx bytes transferred from LAN machines to understand the data usage by each machine. Each new connection will be listed in the new line so you will see multiple entries with same IP and port details.
- If you want to see detail report on how much total bandwidth used by each machines or any specific machines, click on Export logs | Comma-Separated-Value (CSV) format | OK . Now you will be able to see the details in Excel format.
- Navigate to Select All | Insert | PivotTable | OK.
- From the Pivot Table field list Drag the Source IP field to Raw labels , Rx bytes and Tx bytes field to Values to see the total number of bytes uploaded and downloaded by each machines.
- Now on the left side the sheet you can see the Total number of upload and download from each internal machines.
Resolution for SonicOS 6.2 and Below
The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. For firewalls that are generation 6 and newer we suggest to upgrade to the latest general release of SonicOS 6.5 firmware.
- Navigate to System | Diagnostics page, select the option Connections Monitor from the dropdown list.
- You will now see all the active connections that are going out from your internal network.
