GMS/Analyzer - Reset password for the System or Application Interface

    Description

    Reset the Analyzer/GMS password for the System and Application Interface (GMSVP on UMA)

    Resolution

    The default admin password for the System and Application interfaces is password. The admin account for the Application Interface is separate from the admin account for the System Interface.

    This procedure is for GMS 8.1 and below

    1. Log into the GMS application Interface (http://IPaddress/sgms) and get the primary GMS serial number at Console | Help About.

    2. Call TechSupport and provide the GMS serial number. TechSupport will generate a Password Reset Key, which will reset your System Interface password to password.

      There are two ways to contact technical support:

      1. Online: Visit mysonicwall.com. Once logged in select Resources & Support | Support | Create Case. 

      2. By phone: please use our toll-free number at 1-888-793-2830. Please have your SonicWall serial number available to create a new support case.

      If you do not have a mysonicwall.com account create one for free!

    3. Access the System Interface authentication page (http://IPaddress/appliance) and click Forgot password link.

    4. Enter the Password Reset Key and click Submit.

    5. The password will be reset to  password. You will be prompted to select a new password after entering username  admin and password  password.

    This procedure is for GMS 8.2 and later.

    1. Log into the GMS Application Interface (http://IPaddress/sgms) and get the primary GMS serial number at Console | Help About.

    2. Access the System Interface authentication page (http://IPaddress/appliance) and click the Forgot password link.

    3. Call TechSupport and provide the GMS serial number then TechSupport will perform a Password Reset action for this serial number on your MySonicwall account.

      There are two ways to contact technical support:

      1. Online: Visit mysonicwall.com. Once logged in select Resources & Support | Support | Create Case. 

      2. By phone: please use our toll-free number at 1-888-793-2830. Please have your SonicWall serial number available to create a new support case.

      If you do not have a mysonicwall.com account create one for free!

    4. Click on the Submit button after confirmation from TechSupport in order to sync the Password Reset operation from your MySonicwall account.

    5. The password will be reset to password. You will be prompted to select a new password after entering username admin and password password.

    Use this section if you need to reset the password for the GMS Admin account for the Application Interface, and the MySQL database is on the UMA.

    1. Download a MySQL Workbench (or any MySQL administration tool) and install it on a PC which is on the same subnet as the UMA.
      You can download it from:http://www.mysql.com/products/workbench/.

      NOTE: It requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package installed.


      2. Open MySQL Workbench and set up new connection to your UMA - as Hostname use the IP address of your UMA/GMS/Analyzer.

      3. Log into the SGMSDB database using either the "root" account or the account you chose during Role Configuration (you need to know the password - in case you don't know that, please contact Technical Support) and select sgms db as in the screenshot.

      4. Enter this command in the top panel, then hit the Execute button:

      UPDATE USERS SET PASSWORD = '5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99' WHERE ID = 'admin';

      NOTE:  If you will copy that command please erase all ' ' signs and type them again in query.

      5. The admin password has been reset. You can now log in to the Application Interface using username= admin | password= password.
      6. If you want to change the application password navigate to Console|User Settings|General and change your password to a new one.
