Failed to decrypt password using parameters set at login time
Resolution
When creating a user, or modifying a user in the SonicWall UTM appliance, the error "Failed to decrypt password using parameters set at login time" may appear.
This may occur when:
The user password being created contains an unsupported character.
Switching between Config Mode and Non-Config mode or from Non-Config Mode to Config Mode when logging into the appliance.
The IP address of the unit has changed.
The logged-in administrator has logged in using HTTP with Allow HTTP login with RADIUS CHAP mode checked under Users > Settings and is a RADIUS user with administrative privileges.
Resolution:
The password should only contain alphanumeric (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and the following special characters !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[]^_`{|}~. Any of the standard printable ASCII characters except white space, with ASCII codes between 33 and 126 inclusive, are allowed in passwords. This is applicable to all, both a user as well as the Administrator.
Close all web browsers.
Clear web browser Cache and Cookies.
Open your web browser, log back into the appliance and try again.
Login using HTTPS if the administrator is a RADIUS user with administrative privileges.
