What causes AAM (Aventail Access Manager) to fail with error "epiMsiBootstraper.exe" could not be executed?
We can also see the corresponding Event log errors:
Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.CRT. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system
This error is usually seen on Windows XP or Windows 7 client machine, if they dont have the latest .NetFramework installed. 10.6.x requires Visual Studio 8 support and older 10.5.x requires Visual studio 5.0 support. It is also recommended to have all Microsoft Updates applied to the client machine along with the Visual Studio support.
How to Test:
a. Image a Laptop with Windows XP with SP3 and do not apply any of Microsoft Updates. On post imaging try accessing Workplace which should fail in installing AAM (Aventail Access Manager) due to epiMsiBootstraper.exe could not be executed.
b. On post seeing this error apply latest Microsoft updates to the issue reported system. The issue of AAM installation failure should be fixed.
