Description
How to troubleshoot the error "Status: Error: Index of the interface: The IP Address may not be in the last 8 addresses of the subnet"?
Resolution
Resolution for SonicOS 7.X
This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.
This error message will appear in the SonicWall when we try to bridge the WLAN interface with the sonicpoints connected to the LAN interface in which the IP address of the LAN is configured from the last 8 or 16 IP addresses from that subnet.
Sonicpoints or Sonicwaves will always take IP address from the last addresses in that subnet. If the LAN interface is assigned with the IP address from the last addresses (For example: 10.10.10.254), we cannot bridge the WLAN interface with the LAN as it should be used by the Sonicpoints or Sonicwaves
Navigate to Network | System | Interfaces
To resolve this issue the IP address of the LAN interface of the SonicWall should be changed to the initial IP address in the subnet (For example: 10.10.10.1).
After the change in IP address on the LAN, WLAN interface with the sonicpoints can be bridged to the LAN interface so that they can be in the same network.
NOTE: Based on the Sonicpoint Limit specified in the WLAN Interface the IP addresses from the last addresses in the subnet will be excluded from the DHCP server scope in the SonicWall and it will be used by the sonicpoints.

Limit can vary from one SonicWall to other depending on the hardware compatibility. For more information regarding the number of sonicpoints supported by a SonicWall model kindly check the datasheet.
Resolution for SonicOS 6.5
This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.
