DESCRIPTION: Enterprise Secure Mobile Access Common High Availability Clustering Questions
Customer HA Questions:
In HA setups, it's been noticed that the 2 Enterprise Secure Mobile Access (Aventail) appliances need to be connected in a cluster with a direct/crossover cable. Is this really true?
Has anyone any experience with 2 Enterprise Secure Mobile Access (Aventail) appliances in a cluster that have some distance between them larger than Ethernet CAT-V acceptable distance?
Is it possible High Availability would work with +/- 3km distance?
High Availability Clustering in different buildings (or anywhere that extra latency or packet loss could be introduced) is very risky for our appliance. The Appliance services (Policyserver, EVPN, Apache, LogonAPI, etc.) are latency-sensitive, so any added latency creates problems impacting the appliance functionality.
This is unsupported. Our provided cross-over cable directly connecting the appliances is the supported HA method.
It will introduce latency and potential data corruption, and is not supported by support and engineering.
