Email security login page/ webUI is not connecting on Http or Https after migration of settings

Resolution


Resolution or Workaround:

To fix the issue you will have to disable http to https redirect from the CLI, than reconfigure the certificate and re-enable https and redirect to https.


Step 1.How to disable http to https redirect using CLI on Email security appliance/ Virtual appliance

  • Log into the CLI using Putty.
  • Install "putty"- a telnet client from the internet ( you can download it from internet )
  • Open putty and put in the IP address of Email security device and port "22"
  • Login as : snwlcli
  • Login: admin
  • Password : (admin password that you use for logging in the WebUI)
  • On the Cli prompt type the following commands
  • SNWLCLI:>redirecthttp off
  • SNWLCLI:>rebuildwebroot


Step 2.How to reconfigure certificate: ( only applicable to self-signed certificate)

  • Login to WebUI as admin
  • Go to Manage | System Setup| Certificates | Generate/Import
  • Select the "Generate a self-signed SSL certificate"and fill in the hostname and passphrase for private key"
  • Give a name to the new certificate.
  • Click on Generate/ Import

ImageNow to go Configure section and select New certificate for HTTPS radio button

  • Click on apply to save the changes
  • Now try to access the webui using https and it should work.
  • Image NOTE: If you are using a third party trusted certificate than you will have to re-load that certificate or generate the CSR and re-issue the certificate and use that certificate to make https work
