DAT update failure SonicWall Enforced Client (Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware)

Description

The following error will be displayed in the log when DAT update fails.

Failed to unmarshal Updater:'setting.xml' Err:line:1-''-Unexpected end of message. Path:'C:Program Files (x86)SonicWallSonicWall Enforced ClientServicesAntiVirusKasperskyUpdaterBINsettings.xml'

Mostly this is due to the corruption of settings.xml file in the following folder.

On 64 bit systems
Path:'C:Program Files (x86)SonicWallSonicWall Enforced ClientServicesAntiVirusKasperskyUpdaterBIN

On 32 bit systems
Path:'C:Program FilesSonicWallSonicWall Enforced ClientServicesAntiVirusKasperskyUpdaterBIN

Resolution

  1. Change directory to the path based on the OS type.
  2. There is a file settings.xml. Rename that file to oldsettings.xml.
  3. Copy settings.xml from another 32 bit OS (or 64 bit if this system is a 64 bit) that is working.
  4. Restart services from the dashboard. The DAT update will start.
