Content Filter Configuration on Wireless Network Manager (WNM)

Description

Administrators may need to control the traffic of the wireless clients based on the SSID mapped on the different networks. Sonicwall Wireless Network Manager provides different varieties of Security Polices where Content Filtering is one of the most used service.

Resolution

Content Filtering service can be used to block/allow a specific category of website or a specific URIs. Follow the below steps based on the requirement:

  • A new window should appear from where CFS Security Policy need to be selected with an appropriate name to it.

Blocking Website Category :

  • Like our firewall products, Wireless Network Manager CFS policy will by default block category number 1 to 12 and category 59 which are in-appropriate for most of the clients.
  • Administrators can allow or block any of the categories of the website based on the requirement.

Blocking Specific URI:

  • Similar to the website category, Admistrators can allow/block any specific URI if its category has been blocked/allowed respectively
  • On the same page below the category, the URI can be whitelisted or blacklisted based on the requirement

  • Once the appropriate configuration for categories of websites and/or URIs is done, navigate to Policies | SSID Policies and hover the mouse pointer on the desired SSID to map the CFS policy on the SSID.

  • Select the newly configured CFS Policy from the Security Policy tab and click Save:
