Configuring the WAF Virtual Appliance

Description

This article provides procedures to configure the settings as you would for the SonicWall WAF Virtual Appliance hardware appliance.

Resolution

1st Step : Configure interface IP and route settings on the console

 

1    In vSphere, right‐click the SonicWall WAF Virtual Appliance in the left pane and select Open Console in the right‐click menu.

The first‐time login will require the admin to review the End User Product Agreement (EUPA) and accept before proceeding. Hit <SPACE> to scroll down pages.

Use System Setup Wizard to configure the basic network settings.By default, Auto‐provision is set to disabled. Enable ‘Auto‐provision’ if DHCP is enabled for the ESXi server. When Auto‐provision is enabled, the network settings are configured automatically by the DHCP server.

After saving the changes, press Enter to return to the original display of the System Information and Network Settings. Verify that the changes have taken effect
 If no changes are saved, a message displays. Pressing Enter returns to the initial display of the System Information and Network settings.

 

2nd Step : Configure remaining settings on the Appliance Web Interface using he GUI


1 Launch a browser and enter the URL of the virtual appliance.

NOTE: To get access to the appliance need to access using https on port 8443

2    On the appliance interface login page, type in the default credentials and then click Login.
 The default credentials are: User: admin Password: password

NOTE: The first time you login, you are forced to change the password. After you change the password, the WAF Virtual Appliance management interface is displayed.

 


 
 3    Configure your settings for the WAF.
