CFS is showing 'Upgrade Required' even after activated through Licenses Manager

Description

Registered Content Filtering Service (CFS) service is showing 'Upgrade Required' even when it is showing Licensed in System | Licenses.

Resolution for SonicOS 6.5

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

 

Step 1: Go To Manage | Licenses
Step 2: Make sure that,
Premium Content Filtering Service is registered and is licensed

Step 3: Go To Manage | Network | DNS

Step 4: Select 'Specify IPv4 DNS Servers Manually' radio button

Step 5: Mention DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2 as 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2 respectively. Also try 4.2.2.3 if these setting didnt work

Step 6: Click Accept to save the DNS settings


How to Test:

Wait for 2-3 Minutes after changing the DNS configuration, go to Manage | Security Services | Content Filter.

Resolution for SonicOS 6.2 and Below

The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. For firewalls that are generation 6 and newer we suggest to upgrade to the latest general release of SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

Step 1: Go To System | Licenses
Step 2: Make sure that, 
Premium Content Filtering Service is registered and is licensed

Step 3: Go To Network | DNS

Step 4: Select 'Specify IPv4 DNS Servers Manually' radio button

Step 5: Mention DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2 as 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.3 respectively

Step 6: Click Accept to save the DNS settings


How to Test:

Wait for 2-3 Minutes after changing the DNS configuration, go to Security Services | Content Filter and status of the CFS service will be 'Server is ready'.
