How to change the MAC address of Global VPN Client (GVC) installation

Resolution

If you install Global VPN Client with the /g option, then open it BEFORE using ghost, a new MAC address is not generated for the SonicWall VPN Adapter, resulting in network address conflicts for systems restored from the image. Follow these steps, if needed, to change the MAC address of your Global VPN Client's virtual adapter:

  1. Right-Click My Network Places and select Properties.
  2. Right-click on Sonicwall Virtual Adapter and select Properties.
  3. Click Configure.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. In the resulting value window, change the last 3 digits of the virtual adapter's MAC address to different hexadecimal digits.
  6. Test the connection.
