How to change from Policy Mode to Classic Mode on NSv 7.1.x firewalls ?

Description

This section describes how to change from Policy mode (SonicOSX) to Classic mode (SonicOS) on an existing NSv deployment.

Image IMPORTANT: After this change, all of the current configuration settings will be lost and the NSv will reboot with factory default settings

Cause

SonicOSX 7 introduces a new, redesigned unified policy configuration workflow combining Layer 2 to Layer 7 policy enforcement for security policies and optimizing the workflow for other policy types.

This update will necessitate a different GUI design and new features compared to the classic view of SonicOS.

Resolution

However, if you are more familiar with our ‘Classic’ design, it is possible to switch to it. This is recommended for initial deployment, as the firewall will reboot with factory default settings.

STEPS:

1. Log in to mysonicwall.com using the account where the NSv was registered.

2. Search for the firewall by its serial number and click on it to view more details.

3. Enable the “Firewall Mode Switching” option under Product Details.
