This article provides step‑by‑step guidance on how to block browser extensions, add‑ons, and plugins on modern web browsers such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox using content filtering.
In some customer environments, there is a strict requirement to block all extensions, add‑ons, and plugins across all browsers to ensure that users are unable to install browser components. This approach helps organizations enforce security policies, reduce potential vulnerabilities, and maintain better control over the browsing environment. This article explains how to meet such requirements effectively using content filtering.
Step 1: Configure the Content Filtering feature on the firewall and refer to the KB articles below for detailed instructions on how to configure Content Filtering Service (CFS).

Step 2: Create a URI List object for the forbidden list and add the following three domains.
Navigate to Objects → URI Lists → URI List Objects → Add. Provide any appropriate Name, set the Type to Domain, and then add the following domain names:
chromewebstore.google.commicrosoftedge.microsoft.comaddons.mozilla.org
Step 3: Navigate to the respective CFS profile where you want to apply the forbidden URI List and add this URI list under the Forbidden List section to block browser extensions.
