Problem Definition:

On SonicWall Security Appliance, when bridging a LAN interface with WAN (X1) interface there is an error message shown as " Error: Index of the interface.: Bridged interfaces may not be configured in WAN Load Balancing ...". This KB article shows how to get rid of this error message and configure the LAN interface with WAN interface in Layer 2 bridge mode.

Resolution:

The Primary bridge interface shouldn't be participating in the Load balancing, remove the X1 interface from Load Balancing (If there are multiple WAN interfaces) or disable the Load balancing in under Network | Failover  & LB  (if there is only one WAN Interface in). In this article, only one WAN was configured.

Step 7: Navigate to Network | Failover & LB, Uncheck "Enable Load Balancing" and click on Accept.

Step 8: Layer 2 Bridging would be done successfully and the IP addresses on LAN (X0) and WAN (X1) interfaces must be same as shown below.
