Database username, password in Role Configuration

Description

Database username and password in Role Configuration of GMS 8.X and older

Resolution

After installing GMS, Role Configuration must be performed.

Please note the following when selecting values for these fields:

Database User: Do not use any special characters, and do not use 'sa', 'root', or 'admin'.

Database Password: Do not use the following special characters:

` & * ( ) - _ { | ; ' < > % ^ "

Admin Login: If using MySQL, the default Admin Login is 'root'. This cannot be changed.

Admin Password: Do not use the following special characters:

` & * ( ) - _ { | ; ' < > % ^ "

**Note**

If Role Configuration is attempted using invalid credentials, the following message may be seen:

"Database User/password and Admin password configuration task is pending"

If this is continuously seen when attempting role configuration, there is likely an issue with the MySQL user creation (typically due to invalid credentials).

Correcting the issue will require Uninstall/Re-install of GMS and attempt Role Deployment again (if Windows, delete remaining C:\GMSVP folder before re-installing).
