How to Block Youtube App on Mobile using Access Rules

This article explain how to block Youtube App on mobiles using Access Rules

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

  1.  Navegate to OBJECT | Match Object | Addresses | Address Objects, click to +Add

  2. Insert the address as the follwing image

  3. Create a Address Object Group and add all addresses inserted on step 2, navegating to OBJECT | Match Object | Addresses | Address Groups, click to +Add

  4. Click Save.
  5. Navigate to POLICY | Rules and Policies | Access Rules | Click + Add, to add a new Deny Rule

  6. Create a rule from the zone that you need to block the Youtube App and as destination the group created on step 3, in this case the Source zone is Wireless Home and the destination youtube_block. Set the rule as Deny and make sure the priority is higher than Access Rules that has source and destination as ANY. Click Save.

  7. Now the Youtube app on mobile should be blocked
