Enable reporting for any firewall managed by NSM On-Prem 3.0 or above

Description

NSM 3.0 and above supports Management and Reporting both but reporting is not enabled for the controller or the agent by default.

  • NSM On-Prem will offer two new tiers of Reporting and Analytics Licenses: 7 days and 365 days of NSM Reporting and Analytics.
  • There is no basic reporting for NSM On-Prem.
  • The Reporting and Analytics license for NSM On-Prem is applied per the FW model level.
  • Add External disk for Reporting on NSM appliance.: Adding Reporting Data Disk

Resolution

Steps to Enable reporting for any firewall managed by NSM On-Prem 3.0 and above:

1. Login to NSM On-Prem.

2. Enable Reporting and Analytics  from System->Settings->Administration->Deployment Settings->Enable Reporting and Analytics.

3. Go to Manager View->Firewalls->Inventory, we can see that the Reporting Agent shows Unassigned:

5. Under Edit Settings->Enable Reporting and choose the Reporting agent from the Drop down list and click Save.

We can also choose to auto assign in that case NSM will choose the agent to assign the firewall to any agent based on the load.

Note: If we are adding a factory defaulted firewall or a firewall which was never configured before for reporting and Analytics, the firewall needs to be rebooted manually once to enable it for NSM Advance Reporting and Analytics.
