Client machines using Apple iOS are not able to update

Description

Client machines using Apple iOS, such as iPhones and iPads, are not able to update their OS.

Resolution

iOS updates are getting blocked by the app control signature HTTP Proxy -- Proxy Request (SID 7300)

If you want the signature not to be blocked for a short period of time:

  • go to Firewall | App control Advanced
  • in App Control Global Settings, untick the box 'Enable App Control', click on the Accept button
  • go to the client machine and proceed to the necessary updates
  • in App Control Global Settings, tick the box 'Enable App Control', click on the Accept button

CAUTION: This completely Disables App Control for the whole firewall and connections until you re-enable it.

To keep App Control Advanced permanently enabled and if the updates need to be allowed permanently,
you will need to disable this specific signature ID 7300:

  • go to Firewall | App control Advanced
  • in App Control Advanced, enter '7300' in the Lookup Signature ID box and do a search

Image

  • in the drop down menu 'Block', choose 'Disable' option instead of 'Enable', click on the OK button
  • go to a client machine and proceed to do the necessary updates
