In the fast-evolving cybersecurity landscape, consistency and independent validation are the ultimate measures of trust. SonicWall has once again proven its technical leadership, with the SonicWall firewall being the only device to achieve a perfect 100% across all threat categories tested and under real-world high-traffic conditions in the 2025 NetSecOPEN independent validation testing.
Conducted by the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) under RFC 9411 benchmarking standards, the 2025 results mark the second consecutive year that SonicWall has achieved flawless protection across every threat category tested, a distinction no other participating vendor has accomplished.
SonicWall’s 2025 NetSecOPEN results reaffirm its position as an industry benchmark for security performance. The firewall achieved 100% detection and blocking rates across the following NetSecOPEN threat categories:
Exploits targeting both public and private CVEs
Malware samples representing a comprehensive threat landscape
Protocol-level evasions designed to bypass inspection engines
“This significant milestone is the result of disciplined engineering, rigorous testing and an unwavering commitment to our customers’ security,” said Alex Dubrovsky, Vice President of Software Engineering and Threat Research at SonicWall. “No other vendor has achieved this accomplishment once, let alone in consecutive years. Our engineering teams continue to innovate across detection technologies, performance optimization and threat research to ensure SonicWall solutions deliver not only protection without compromise, but the confidence our partners and customers depend on every day.”
Unlike controlled or limited lab scenarios, the NetSecOPEN testing framework measures threat prevention performance under real-world, high-stress network conditions.
The firewall not only achieved 100% threat blocking, but did so under heavy traffic loads, validating that SonicWall delivers perfect threat efficacy even in demanding, high-bandwidth customer environments.
In addition, the firewall demonstrated exceptional throughput performance with threat prevention and TLS decryption enabled, achieving:
Up to 6.5 Gbps for HTTP traffic, and
Up to 3.6 Gbps for HTTPS traffic
This combination of accuracy and speed confirms that organizations don’t need to choose between robust security and performance. SonicWall delivers both.
While SonicWall firewalls continue to set the industry benchmark for threat prevention, the company is rapidly expanding beyond the perimeter to protect users, devices and data everywhere they operate. Building on this foundation, SonicWall now delivers a unified platform that includes the cloud-native Cloud Secure Edge (CSE), Zero Trust access and Managed Security Services (MSS) through SonicSentry, all centrally managed through SonicWall’s Unified Management Platform. These innovations empower partners to deliver holistic protection, from the branch to the cloud to the endpoint, enabling customers to securely connect to any application, on any device, from any location. This evolution underscores SonicWall’s transformation into a modern, partner-first security company focused on delivering flexible offerings: products, services, and fully managed solutions that meet organizations wherever they are on their security journey.
As the only vendor to achieve a 100% block rate across all NetSecOPEN test categories for two years running, SonicWall continues to set the standard for next-generation firewall protection. Even as threat actors grow more sophisticated and traffic volumes surge, SonicWall’s technology continues to deliver flawless, validated performance, reinforcing its role as a trusted cybersecurity partner to organizations of all sizes.
